If you live in the south, you know that sweet tea is the biggest staple to anyone’s home. And when I say sweet, I mean SWEEEEEET tea.
Out here in the west, sweet tea at a restaurant is possible if you add you own sweetener….which is a counterfeit. Anytime I ever ask if a restaurant has sweet tea, the waitress give me a half smile and says, “we have iced tea!”
Forget it.
If you want the real thing, I suggest doing a little DIY at home. It’s not that difficult.
Making your own tea at home is easy, and you can always pack it up in a mason jar to take with you when you want to eat out.
Sweet Tea Recipe
Ingredients
10 Black Tea Bags
1.5 Cups of Sugar (Or more)
1 Gallon Pitcher
Lemon (optional)
Mint Leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Drop your tea bags and sugar into the pitcher, and fill it up with hot water from your sink and stir.
- Let it sit on your counter for 2-3 hours.
- Remove tea bags and place into fridge for 8 hours to chill. (I make my sweet tea first thing in the morning so I know it’ll be chilled by dinner time.)
- Serve over ice for peak enjoyment! You can also add a slice of lemon or a mint leaf to your glass of tea for some extra flavor.
